What is this?

A red carpet for everyone who belongs here.

During World Pride Amsterdam, 't Mandje and the Zeedijk neighbourhood community are hosting the Zeedijk Pride Stride โ€” a community catwalk on the Zeedijk where everyone gets to show their new self, their true self, or their proud self.

Guided by an MC who tells your story, you walk the red carpet while the crowd cheers you on. Whether you're trans, queer, a longtime Wallengebied local, or just fiercely proud of something โ€” you belong on this carpet.

Fashion. Community. Activism. Visibility. Especially now, when some expressions are under pressure โ€” we choose to show up and be seen. ๐ŸŒˆ

Walk with us

The carpet belongs to us.

To everyone who walks it and everyone who cheers. And to anyone who doesn't believe they belong: you do. Come, try, and be proud.

No sign-up needed โ€” but we'd love to hear that you're joining, and anything you'd like us to know.

On the mic, behind the decks & on the vocals

Your MCs. Your DJ. Your singer.

Two voices on the mic, cheering every walker down the carpet and telling your story the way you want it told โ€” one DJ giving every strut its soundtrack, and one singer lifting the whole Zeedijk in song.

A note from the organiser

"I started the Stride because I believe nobody should have to hide who they are. About the illustration

It was made by Piet Paris โ€” a fashion illustrator from Amsterdam who has spent over thirty years drawing people at their most elegant, with scissors, paper and love. Piet gave the Zeedijk Stride her Pride. On 5 August the carpet is waiting for the real thing: you.

Behind the lens

The street photography on this site is the work of Jo Avelyn Grey (she/her) โ€” a trans-femme street photographer, technologist and community volunteer, originally from Florida and now at home in Amsterdam. Jo is one of the handful of transgender Americans who fled the United States in 2025 to seek political asylum in the Netherlands, after the current American regimeโ€™s threats against the transgender community (NSPM-7). Because of her unique immigration situation she is still fighting for her right to remain โ€” but in the meantime she has found peace and purpose in her photographic art, one honest frame of the neighbourhood at a time.
